Go Vote!

OK, enough postering, and arguing. The time for voting is now, so go out and vote, but only once.
Regardless of party affiliation, go vote.

( Remember republicans vote today, democrats vote next Tuesday)

If you (anybody) don't understand the local ballot issues or don't know who your candidates are, then do everybody in your state and precinct a favor and stay home.

i voted and there were many many uncontested offices with only a republican candidate. They'll win of course but not with my vote.

I voted against everything that raised taxes and for everything that extended tax credits.

When it came for my local US Rep race I was stunned to find that the Libertarians hadn't fielded a candidate in that race. I sure was mistaken on that because I though there was one qualified. Wrong. Instead we had two Demopublicans. Bummer.

Are ballot questions purposely worded to be as unreadable as possible? I knew how I wanted to vote, but after reading the actual langauge of the question, I can't be sure I voted as I intended. I do not understand why they do this---the pols will confuse their supporters as well as their opponents.

They are definitely highly unreadable for the most part. I bet most people cast their votes for/against them based on who supports/opposes them. For one measure here, the actual wording of the intiative is like 7 pages long!

The only thing I had difficulty making up my mind on was term limits for the state legislature. At first I was going to vote for it, but I was persuaded to vote againt it.

Yea, the old vote "NO" if you don't want this referendum defeated. There should be a plain language law.

I voted for everything that will result in more spending. I almost always vote in favor of ballot issues intended to raise money. Why? Two reasons: (a) our local government spends money as if real estate was taxed at $1.25 per thousand while only taxing somewhere around $1 per thousand, so we need the money; and (b) because so many people like Bot almost always vote no on those issues. Bot and I cancel each other out and leave the contest for those who really have their heart in it. Our ballot had 16 items on the ballot on whether the County should contract debt for a total of $234,000,000 (approximately $800 per citizen). I voted for every one.

There was a school measure here that I voted for. If I owned any proeprty and would have to pay for it, though, I might have thought about it for more than 2 seconds.

Edit: I should say that my experiences with the local high school grads also factored into this decision.
