Considering purchasing a used E320
I was in a friends 1998 MB E320 and was really impressed concerning her comments on dependability and gas mileage. Could I get some feedback from members about the E320? I am mostly concernined with the two issues I mentioned above and also upkeep cost. I am looking at something in the 50-60,000 mile range and want to know what experiences forum members may have has with this model.

The 1998-2002 E320 cars have proven to be super reliable, especially the face lifted 2000-2002 cars, as they received all the updates.
In particular, the 722.6 5 speed transmission was greatly improved by 2000.

E320 Feedback
Quote:
This is the first "newer" and smaller Sedan we have owned. All my previous sedans were 126's. I am pleasantly surprised at the feel and handling of this car. I was afraid the lighter weight and size would make the car seem unsubstantial. This car is a real joy to drive on long trips.

Just a follow-up to my previous post.
My neighbor across the street from me is a technician at Penske Mercedes Benz in West Covina, CA. I have asked him for his opinion on which are the most reliable and dependable Mercedes cars, and unequivocally, his response is the W202 C class and the W210 E class, both the E320 and E430.

Thanks for the reply's
I am not a rich guy, by anyones stretch, but, would rather spend the money for a high quality car than continually shoveling money to something that is not quality.

The E class up until 1995 was the last of the "old-world" design, before the bean counters took control. That's what I'm considering next, maybe even a diesel if I can find one!

We sure can, but he didn't mention the E300 diesel as being reliable.
