My Benz diesel is in a coma-so I leased a VW!

My Benz (84 300D) was having starting issues. Now it has lost its glow plugs and either the battery or alternator or both. Not a huge deal but more than I want to deal with in freezing weather. I drove it to the VW dealer today and they had to give me a jump when I left. While I was there I leased a Jetta. Its an 07 Wolfsburg edition in white. Nice package, heated seats, nice wheels and tires, sunroof, good stereo. Pretty good deal, the ads for the base model at 199/month are pretty close to the better model Wolfsburg edition.

I've never leased a car before. I've never made a purchase at a dealership either, and the experience was great, made better because I know the salesman pretty well socially. What I didn't know was that he is the best VW salesman in my state and has been at or near the top since the 70's. I never knew, but all the stuff was all over his office. Anyway, I have had my doubts about VW but I'm hopeful I got a good one!

Stick shift or auto? Can you get that DSG transmission with the diesels?

It's a gasser 5 speed. I read somewhere that the diesels will not be available for 07 but returning for 08. It didn't make sense to me though because there were plenty of diesels on the lot and I dont think they were 06's. I don't know much about the specs on them. They're too pricey for me to look at and I don't really want another diesel.

Ah I see. So they are done with the turbo charged engine on the Jetta right? They all equipped with a 5 cyl?

Is it the 5 cylinder gas motor?

yes, the diesels can be had with DSG. Some think it's the best overall driving experience in the TDi.

No 07 VW diesels. Has to do with emissions regs.
