New Year's plans?

At the risk of being redundant (Another Fine Friday thread), what is everybody doing for New Year's Eve?

I know some of you are in bands. Are any of you playing somewhere Sunday night?

Thank god none. I used to go out of town for years to different locations when I was single, but after I settled down with my wife I always got a table for 20 at the same place every year (dutch) and did the party out of obligation. It got so far out from where it started, some of the originals would end up selling their tickets to someone else, ect......year before last when I hosted the last shindig, I didn't know 3 of the couples! New Years eve parties are a younger man's sport.

Going to whoop it up in NOLA first of Feb though

Pommegranate martini's interesting. I was traveling N on 55 earlier and passed Elixers which is our quality martini vendor - boy was it tempting to stop

What IS a martini, anyhow?

What, exactly, is the definition of a martini? There are so many drinks around now that are labeled as martinis, that I'm not sure what really constitutes one.

The name actually come from the Vermouth e.g. Martini & Rossi. Mostly made with Vodka in present time but Gin was more popular in the past. Basically it pure alcohol chilled.

A good Martini is a concoction of such perfect proportions that you are consumed by its ultimate reality. A slow sip sends you into a nirvana of slippery, viscous, chilling, specialness. At times it is reminiscent of the best summer you ever had as a child, and on other occassions it validates your adulthood like nothing else can

I'll have a double, in that case! You're not a bar tender are you, TX? If not, you're probaly missing out on some very good income. If you've got a story THAT good to go along with other drinks.

Never did ATL but the Mega Conference is only every two years - pretty awesome. Some real interesting after hours private venues
