Question PDA sync problem, please help

Hello all:

Not a good computer day for me. For over a month now, my Dell Axim has not been able to sync up with my computer. I suspect it may be since I upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 (or whichever the most recent one is).

Today I re-installed the software and still have the problem. Any ideas?? It's really a pain to have to enter all information twice: once on the handheld and once onto the computer.

Thanks!

Have you checked the actual, physical connection?

My PDA once did that and it was a matter of the cabling not being secure. Go figure.

Of course, if you sync up yours via infrared, then disregard this and go look for MM or Kirk...

Yeah, the cable is fine. "Active-sync" does search for the device and advises me that it is not connected. I have two cables/docking stations as well as ports and neither one works, so I'm sure it's not a problem with the cable.

I'm stumped....

Dee8go: what date is Chambersburg? I'm mad-busy with wedding stuff, but you never know.

Hmmm, do you have another cable to test and see if the cable died? My Treo cable had a wire wear out a bit, and would not make a connection. Replaced the cable, and all is well...

How much did you have to pay for your replacement cable, Justin. I may have to get one of those, too. I still haven't done anything about my Treo/hotsync problem yet.

If you're sure it's not the cable, go to system/device settings and make sure your USB ports don't have a conflict. You can tell if they do if there is a yellow exclamation point beside them. If they do, delete them and they will reinstall upon reboot.
If the USB ports are ok, plug in the cable and go back to device settings and see if the USB cable is causing a conflict. If it is, delete, disconnect the cable and reboot. Once the reboot is done, reconnect the cable.
If that doesn't solve it, uninstall Activesync and reninstall the latest version.
Hope this helps.

Try to plug it into a different computer. If you get the little bubble that tells you that it found new hardware, then you got a problem with the computer. If it doesnt, then there is a problem with the phone...
