Yep...been using it for years, back when it was Star Office and was licensed to users by Sun Microsystems. Now it's free and an even better deal. The latest versions allow you to save a document in the same format as Microsoft Office.
So you can create a document using Open Office and still open it and change it with Office. Linux OS, Firefox Browser, and Star Office...F&%K Microsoft.

I LOVE Open Office. So much better than MS Office, faster, never crashes. I remember back when I used to use Windows I still used open office. Now I'm all Linux. Everything open source, never going back. Can't think of ANY applications that I used in Windows that I can't use in Linux (including games, web design stuff, etc).

Been using OO since version 1xx, has been my savior after my last purchase of MS Office which cost me quite a lot and yet, came full of bugs, MS Office would easily get infected by Macro viruses, also Word would crash occasionaly, no such woes with free and excellently supported OO. There is also a bigger version of OO which is called OO Oxygen and it comes with boatload of cliparts and templates in case anyone needs them.

I would look at NeoOffice for the Mac. It's based on OO but doesn't use the awkward X11 software.

Any way to chop off those puppet strings that Microsoft has manipulated with commercial licensing fees, is a good thing.

It also works great if you have a broadband connection in your home.

Been using it for about a year. Can't beat the price.
