Childhood Restrictions That Stuck

In a reflective state I thought about childhoood restrictions my parents put on us that I still practice today. Two and half come to mind- 1. No gum chewing (my dad got tired of stepping in it on a hot steamy sidewalk) and 2. Not allowed to drink soda pop and the 2.5 Not allowed to watch alot of t.v. but guess what TOMORROW I'M GETTING CABLE. Woo hoo. Still don't chew gum or drink soda's but I gotta get cable...

Hey, you can get a six pack of Coke and a big bag of Bazooka bubble gum to celebrate!

Most annoying thing right now, can't buy like any car stuff at walmart.. their must be over 18 crap.. WE CAN GET IT AT THE AUTOZONE DOWN THE STREET ANYWAY if we want to sniff it.. i'm convincing my friends to boycott them...

Before,
can't get a drivers license until your 16.. however old you are, your gonna suck if you have no practice... i drove just fine at 13 in parking lots.. drove home right after i got my permit, no problem.

can't enter legal contract until your 18.. took me forever to find a bank that would let me have an account my parents can't access, still end up lieing about my age in on mail in rebates and any contests i wanna enter..

at home... i'm home alone alot, so i do whatever i want and not get caught

I remember back when I used to wish I was a different age . . . . and it was OLDER.

You must be pretty healthy if you've never had soda your whole life.

Conserve water and electricity; and a variety of other things you would normally expect to hear from German grandparents. (look both ways before crossing the street, etc.) The one that didn't stick too well, is don't go home with strangers

Stand up straight, chin OUT! Shoulders BACK! Dad was a military man through and through. I didn't realize smiling, slouching, and goofing off was possible until after I left home.

Don't read with the light off! You're gonna ruin your eyes. My mother would come by and turn the reading light on. I was very comfortable reading with the light off. Annoyed the hell out of me. Now that I'm older I need that light on. Darn.
