My Whips...

There have been some questions raised about the vehicles in the stable.... I got bored and snapped some pics on my iPhone....

And here are a few.

Had a fella show up with a supercharged G500 at one of out GTG's outside Seattle a few years ago. When he was leaving, he got into it, and about pulled the front wheels off the ground, with 4 people on board!
Sweet ride!

We almost bought a G55k. 500ish Horsepower beast G-Wagen.

Just couldnt justify the extra $15k. It would have been cool though.

Something is different about newer paint. I don't know what it is - might be some type of environmental protection law, but even the highest-end newer cars have an amount of orange peel that would have been unacceptable to say, Mercedes in the early and mid 1980s.

Thanks, Matt, I'll take your word for it. My parents would never drop that much coin on a car but have no problem spending that much on diesel pickups. Most people in my circles (agricultural related business) are like that. Needless to say the clientele have different thresholds and expectations Walking by one in the street are as close as I'll ever get to one. But I have to say that I'm impressed with the paint on my '80. Especially since it was essentially neglected for over a decade before I bought it. Still shines when waxed and flat smooth. But then again, they don't do/make anything like they did "back in the day."

I had a conversation with the GM of my local MBZ dealer....

Its the fact that they switched to the water based eco friendly paint.

It doesn't settle out quite as nice as the older non waterbased paint. Leaves the orangepeel behind. He said that you can order cars now with a special code to get the older paint.

But meh. Its fun to drive, and has tons of road presence. Not to mention that its comfortable as hell!

Thanks, Justin. Like I said, it wasn't meant to be nit-picky. I was genuinely curious. I bet it is a blast!

Good stuff and thank yopu for having taste. LOL.

When I saw "Whips" I expected some tasteless DUBretardrimmed abortion like you see on MBworld or BENZworld.

I knew there was a reason I love this forum!!

Oh man oh man oh man I love that G500!!!!
