Overhauling a big engine.
As a freelance automechanic i see all kind's of jobs, currently i'm overhauling a 21 years old OM441 with 500.000 miles on it in a bus.
The engine is located behind the front axle. Rust and conditions have taken their toll Everything is painted to slow corrosion. Not the best space to work in:

wet steel liners? I see the puller. Should be a cakewalk. Did ya mike the crank?

Hell of a job. Are you pulling a sleeve in that picture? What all are doing to the engine?

I'm pulling the sleeves, the initial problem was a neglected blown head gasket whitch resulted in oil contaminating the coolant, the original sleeve seals can't handle the contamination and coolant starts leaking into the lubricating oil.

No this engine has been very well maintained and shows next to none marks of wear and tear. I'm replacing the main and secondary bearings with standard size and using the same sleeves and pistons.
