Killdozer: Armor plated dozer goes nuts

To bizar. The guy is in a home built armor plated bulldozer. According to the history channel he used 2 plats of 1/2" steel with concrete in the 6" space between the steel. He had several video cameras mounted externally behind bullet proof glass as well as a few gun ports. On of the gun ports had a .50 w/scope. At one point, the sheriff was speaking with the national guard to see if they would take him out with a anti-tank missile on a helo before someone got hurt. He ended up committing suicide.

That must the Granby incident of a few years ago. The town cut up the dozer a year or so after the town was destroyed. I thought the dozer would have made a great tourist attraction. He would have been further ahead with a Deutz air cooled diesel. The rig began leaking coolant, overheated and lost power.
Amazing that a guy could build a rig like that in such a small town without anyone knowing about it.

Yep. That's the one. The guy was obviously talented to be able to build such a contraption. Sad he could not put his talent to better use.

Bonnie & Clyde's car was flat-cared from town to town for years before it finally landed in a museum. People still make money off B&C in Arcadia, LA.

Maybe I'm sick for saying this, but that video made me giggle like a little girl.

I operated D7's in Iraq and got to knock down trees with one, but I never got to do any buildings. Maybe next deployment.

LOL

I can identify with the guy's frustration, but his solution was over the top by a large amount.

The guy had actually welded himself into the dozer when he started the rampage (using a portable oxyacetylene unit which he had inside). So there was no way for anyone to get inside but also no easy way for him to get out.
The tourist value would have increased exponentially if they had just left him inside and never cut him out.

I'm surprised they cut it up, I would have charged people $5 to see it.

I guess he was just an angry person. I don't think he hurt anyone, a D7 is pretty slow so it would be hard to not get out of the way.

As I recall no one got hurt but he did come pretty close.

At one point he was only a few hundred feet (if that) from a propane depot. Had he hit those tanks it would have made one heck of a bang. Also, I believe he hit a school or library where only a few minutes earlier there were 20 or 30 children.
