Ha ha, Lexus's arn't so great!

I got the hear the tale of wo that my uncles girlfriend has been suffering with her 2004 Lexus SUV thing, EX330? WTF are they called? They look like eggs and everyone has one.

It was purchased CPO not quite two years old in early 2006. The climate control won't work, dealer can't fix it. It has a mind of its own, goes from furnace to North Pole whenever it wants. The radio won't get any stations, this is the third one, still won't work. The transmission goes nuts, bucks, doesn't shift, and slips. Dealer says it has to "adapt" to her driving. Once in awhile it just won't start, but if you remove the key and wait for 10 minutes it will. It also has 3 very loud dash rattles and the door panals sound like they are about to fall off. Currantly has 60k miles on it.

So Lexus arn't perfect!

Hey, you are not the first person to tell me a Lexus horror story.

My friend Andrew had a 2006 IS350. Bought it brand new... Only had it for a month before Lexus bought it back under Lemon Law.

The traction control would kick in at random times, and cut the throttle back to like 15%. They replaced different things three different times... Couldn't fix it...

Now... He drives a C350.

Then there's the story about a friend of mine that bought a brand new Rolls. Within a year, the paint was coming off.....in SHEETS!
Yeah, they all have issues.

I do believe Lexus has an undeserved reputation for being 100% bulletproof. However their paintjobs are far better than BMWs or MB's since they wet sand them at the factory. I saw a brand new S-class driving around yesterday, with a black paintjob and the hideous orange peel really stood out and ruined how the whole car looks. That crap would really piss me off if I just blew 100K on a car.

If we do the math of Lexus versus MB faults, Lexus wins hands down barring exceptions like the one mentioned. If consistency of quality is anything to go by Lexus scores handsomely in that respect.

The other thing is Lexus actually will SUPPORT the customer and try to make things right, wheras Mercedes will deny a problem at all and refuse to handle the issue unless you are willing to spend a king's ransom for diagnosis and repair!

Usually takes a class action suit to get a repair campaign grudgingly facilitated...wonder how long it will take for MB to happily deal (i.e. goodwill replacement) with the LED gauge cluster displays on several of their 99-03 models?

^^And Lexus dealers treat you like precious jewelry. Try and get a 2 year old Benz looked at at your local MB dealer for the same problems.

hat- the model your referring to is th RX330 (its a chicks SUV)

Ive had good luck with my ES, its been 5 years and 71k and other then some shyt called a fuel damper (yes, thats the right spelling) leaking fuel onto the block at 114K, I have never had a problem. I did however get a notice about the results of a class action lawsuit regarding some oil gelling problem that my model was suppose to have, but so far mobile1 has not let me down.

I guess most of you guys know that Lexus designed their " L badge" to look something like MB's three pointed star. Fact... Also.. Their LS series was almost a direct copy of the MB 126. Can't they come up with ANY ideas of their own?

That's what I don't get.....this obsession with how "Lexus copies blah blah blah".
So?
If ya hate Lexus, that's one thing. Fine. But the Japanese have made them selves VERY rich copying just about EVERYTHING, and making it better. They've been doing it for, oh, about 50 years now. Nuthin new.

So? And MB hasn't copied a lot of Chris Bangle's horrible designs?
