The mere fact that a 12-year-old girl danced nude at a northwest Dallas strip club isn't enough to close its doors. That's because the city ordinance that regulates sexually oriented businesses does not allow authorities to revoke the license of such a business for employing someone under the age of 18. Despicable in every sense............

Aren't there other laws the govern the employment of children under 18 - Like mandatory breaks/hours per day limits ? minimum wage stipulations ? "home time" on school nights".
-what- she's not an employee ? so she is an independant contractor ? Can you legally enter into a contract at age 12 w/o parents consent/signature ? I agree that this is messed up beyond belief if the buisness owner doesnt get punished for this (if the buisness owner were soliciting her for sex on the internet, he'd get jail and branded for life without even touching her...) Message to children- 12 year olds can't get jobs at McDonalds, but Strip bars are ok.  n-John

I'd say this one is entirely on the strip bar owner. If you read the article you'll see that he asked her what her birthday was, and when she told him that she couldn't remember, he replied by telling her what year she would have been born in if she was 19. I doubt he thought she was 12, but he must have suspected that she was underage. He didn't take any steps to ascertain her age because he looked at her and saw her potential to generate revenue for him. The article also said that a 17 year old was also picked up in the bar, so this wasn't his first time.
Let's hope that the courts make a huge example out of this guy in order to give future strip bar owners a reason to make sure they verify a girl's age by getting proper ID.

Wow strip clubs are seedy go figure.
He knew she was underage but didn't press it, he wasn't interested. Well maybe the judge should change his attitude.
