Last weekend I cut some holes in a beaver dam that is flooding my in-laws' forest. I did it to drain the pond and hopefully, give the trees a chance to recover some roots. I'm no trapper nor do I see myself going back every week or so and cutting more holes in the damned dams. No, I am not going to blow the dams. (I'm picturing myself going to the coop and asking for 50# of ammonium nitrate. BATF would be on me faster than you can say David Koresh). I know that one method of control is to hide near the hole in the dam and wait for the beavers to come repair it. That's got to be good for 1 or 2 shots at most -- no threat to the population.
Any other ideas?
Since the beav is most active in the early evening and before sunrise I'm thinking that a laser sight on a .22 might be effective (this one is cheap and should work on a .22
