What's the weather like.......

where you live?

Here in Jersey, it's freakin' hot!. Anyway, the weekend chores still need to get done, so I just had to "man up" and do it. After five hours of mowing, trimming, and various other forms of manual labor, I'm drained. My wife says' I'm nuts, that I should hire someone to do the yardwork, or at least get a self-propelled mower. WTF? She obviously has no idea how gratifying it is to sweat off six pounds in just a few hours (don't worry, I'll gain it back 12oz. at a time ).

So did anyone else voluntarily torture themself today?

It's another 82 degree day in Southern California, with a cool breeze blowing, and white whispy clouds floating by.

Hate to rub in in.

But seriously, I'm with you on the yard work.

I think there is only one or two other guys on my street who do their own lawn, but with me, it's not completely about the money.

I actually enjoy the work, being outside, sweating, making nice lines back and forth as I walk behind the mower.

Hotter than two mice fornicating in a wool sock, here.
And, I’d sure like to find the switch that turns off this fan that keeps blowing 30+ all day.

But I’ve been spending most of the past three days flying the 675 up over the mid-west where it would appear they’ve gotten more than their quota of rain.
We’ve had to spear through some pretty nasty (“wing ripper”) thunderstorms. A few, that I probably should have run from.

They’ve been fairly narrow bands, but they sure bring out the pucker and puke factor in the news crews.

I feel for you folks up there. Hold on to whatever floats!!

I did all my yard work Saturday while it was "cool". The temp climbed from 75 to 90+ in an hour, with the humidity in the 96% range.
Of course, my yard work only takes about an hour thanks to my "other" hobby--Cub Cadets. I actually own 3 of the garden tractors, but one is one long-term loan to my son. So I have 2 Cubs for somewhat less than a 1/2 acre. Yeah, its overkill, and i use a small push mower for the trim work.

If you're ever in the KRDU area and have a hankering for NC barbeque, let me know.

Weather here is currently in the middle of a string of way-to-hot days nearing 100 with no end in sight...

Hot here in Pa. as it usually is in June. Did the yard work in the morning and late evening. A slight breeze this evening on the porch as we listen to the "oldies". They just played Last Night by Chris Anderson and my wife got me to dance to it out on the deck,,, these are the good times.

It's still 82˚ and VERY humid at 9:38pm.

I've had to have the AC running all day long just to keep my house at 75˚ downstairs and 80˚ upstairs. Looks like the rest of the week will be more of the same. I'm not looking forward to seeing the thrashing we're taking from PECO.

I'm glad I built a family room in our basement.

Omaha got hammered last night with tornadic winds. Here in Metro KC a squall line is passing through. I'm in the Flash Flood box to the left. It's quiet right now, but......

55th anniversary of the Flint Beecher District tornado. That one missed us by about 4 miles when I was a kid.

Low 90's during the day low 70's at night. haven't even bothered to fool with the A/C in the new (100 yo) house yet. this crazy place has central air (not heat) on the first floor and a few window units for the second floor. But since it is an old house, it has tons of big windows and flow thru ventilation. Ceiling fans in bedrooms and main rooms help too.
Now the heat this winter will be interesting. All electric baseboard heat so I'm following the other thread on home heating with much interest.
