difference between GT500 and GT500KR?

What does the GT500KR have over the GT500?

I'm talking about proper 1968 Shelbys.

Thanks,
Sixto

KR stands for KING of the ROAD. I know that part!

I think it had different badging and other cosmetic upgrades. Maybe a bit more horsepower. Total guess.

I would say so. The morons I saw paying 200k+ for their "investments" at Barrett Jackson are royally screwed.

I think in the case of these pretty rare and pretty desirable cars, if they hold them for a while they will be fine.

At Shelby, the Cobra Jet replaced the original 428, and GT 500s gained a KR suffix, for King of the Road

The GT500 came equipped with the 428 cubic-inch Police Interceptor engine. In February of 1968, the GT500KR became available and was considered the ultimate Shelby. Under the hood was a 428 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V8 which was rated at 335 horsepower.

The GT 500-KR's 428 had the same suspiciously low 335-bhp rating as other Cobra Jets, though some Shelby material put peak output at higher rpm. Shelby's version had diecast aluminum Cobra rocker covers but wore the same plain painted ram-air air cleaner

X2, saw that one coming. They will come down further as the baby boomers die off, my generation certianly won't be paying that for them. Just like the pre war and brass cars.
