I suck at skeet shooting...

Havn't been in about 5 months and I was missing doubles left and right, wow pitafull! I don't even want to know what my poor neglected golf swing looks like.

Shooting is tough, you really need to practice all the time to be any good at it. Not to mention a shotgun is easy to shoot, something hard like a big caliber pistol you need to practice even more.

How often do you guys go? Took me about 100 rounds to start hitting them again. I wouldn't actualy want to go hunting until I put a ton more through.

I have never shot skeet, but have shot a number of rounds of trap. I'm just plain not very good at it yet. Shooting a shotgun is easy? I'll take a pistol any day.

I had a S&W Model 29 44 Mag revolver that was so much fun to shoot that I had to wuss out and have it Magnaported. I'll take the shotgun any day over that.

44 Magnum is very powerful. So is a 357. I've shot both of them, but prefer a pistol. 40 S&W is a decent compromise pistol ammunition. Not too powerful but definitely not wimpy.

I have a borrowed Marlin 45-70 Govt. rifle here that I shoot whenever I get a real hankering for a bruised shoulder. A few rounds out of that and you'll think you shot 50 birds.

I'm not a pistol fan, I prefer long guns. Shotguns are easy because everything you are shooting at is real close.

I like shooting pistols because of the concentration required for a good shot. Rifles are almost as bad, depending on the distance to the target. However, shooting a 22 LR pistol is a very calming experience. You still have to hold it very carefully, but there is very little recoil or noise.

The only thing that I shoot at with a shotgun is a clay bird. They're no closer than the target on an indoor pistol range once I get my shot off, and they move as a bonus.

I prefer to shoot pistol first, rifle second and somewhere at the bottom of the heap is the shotgun.

I just bought another Mosin-Nagant. I've had a model 91 from 1895 and I just bought a model 91/30 from 1942. I love these guns. so cheap, fun to shoot, and I love the history behind them.

I remember having a lot of fun with a shotgun when i was younger. my dad even bought me a shotgun. I just recently got her out or storage, I plan on shooting for trap soon.

no pistols in my life yet. but I'd really like to get a CZ-52

crappy cell phone pic of the M91

Probably on Youtube, there's a great episode from the Beverly Hillbillies when Jed takes on skeet.

I've got one of those too. It's a pain finding ammo though...

I have over 3,000 rounds of Norinco 180 grain 7.62x54R ammo thats been sitting in sealed storage for over 17 years. (Man I feel old) I bought those like for nothing back in the day. They'll probably sit for another 17 plus years since I haven't touch a gun for almost that long.

BTW - I was never good at skeet shooting too!

I used to love skeet shooting. Haven't done it in 15 or 20 years, though. I used to have a little trap that you staked down to the ground and it had a string you could tie to your leg to release it. That was a lot of fun. I've never been much of a hunter, but shooting was fun.

Practice, practice, practice. Hatt- do you think Dirty Harry or Rambo got to be such good shooters after one or two sessons?

Tried that and gave it up. I decided to pony up the few bucks and go to the trap shoot days at the club. They had voice activated throwers. All you say is "Pull" and it throws it up for you.
