paypal sucks
I hate paypal. I was given an echeck from a buyer on another forum for some parts, $515 with shipping to the UK. He's a good guy as I've purchased from him and etc. So the e check is in the system as of the 7th.. Paypal said it wont clear until the 27th or the 1st of dec at the latest.
seriously.. what the ****.. that is longer than the 7-9 business days they said. It is really pissing me off since I want to ship this guy his parts but wont do so until it clears. my new policy is no e checks, you will pay paypal fees on top of what you paid! |

You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as payment. Get reported, and you'll be screwed a lot worse than you are now. Plenty of sellers have found this out the hard way, having their PayPal accounts locked for months, with ALL funds in them unavailable. If you want to recoup the fees, either raise your prices, or add a "handling charge" to transactions. The latter is specifically allowed in the TOS, but you need to add it regardless of payment method - not just for PayPal buyers. |

I usually add a "handling charge" of 2%.. might just have to bump it up to 3%
all I know is paypal is making more than the $5 fee they charge for e checks right now... I would have rather taken the 3% hit than waiting a frign month for my bloody money |

Paypal uses echecks only when the payer does not have a second source for funds (i.e. credit card). I suppose it's their way of making a few pennies more on each transaction, but I don't see how, as the vast majority of Paypal users also have credit cards.
Paypal is just part of the price of doing business. Money orders top out at some low value and cashier's checks are easily forged. Setting up an account to accept credit cards is crazy expensive unless you do several thousand dollars a month.
