Looked at an 09 F150 this morning...

Hattie wants bad!:D Dark blue like the SDL was, chrome bumpers, light gray interior with actualy pretty decent vinyl seats, although I still would prefer cloth. I like Ford's new interior, almost as nice as my dads old 1994. I like the retro looking guage layout, much nicer than the sparten look of the previous model. I like the new tail lights and tailgate, it has kind of a built in spoiler look to it, with Lincoln ish tail lights.

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/9...150copyoc3.jpg

It had the 3 valve 4.6L V8 with the 6speed auto, and 3.55 posi rear, so the drive line to get.

What it didn't have which I want is the towing package. The dealer is dumb not to order the trucks with it, its only $350 and you get a bigger radiator, transmission cooler, and a hitch wired in with a plug. For $350 I want the larger radiator and trans cooler!

The dark blue with light gray is a dumb combo to, blue shows everything. Good choice for an S class but horrible for a truck. I want silver, or gray.

$21k and some change, but Ford knocks $3k off right away, and I can get the $500 college discount. So its really about $18k before negotations begin.:D Plus supposidly the trade in value of the POS VW is $1,300.:D I need to save some more, I really don't want a loan but its so damn tempting...if I put $10k down it wouldn't be so bad...

Hattie wants a new truck bad, that new truck smell is like crack.:D Made getting back into the little tin can VW so hard, so much more room and power. Plus I can throw my friends ATV in the back with a bunch of guns and beer for some camping fun.:D

865sp300e 03-09-2009 02:58 PM

Did they offer you the free oil changes for life too?

Every time I buy a new truck for one of our salepeople I always take delivery for them on a Friday so I can drive them all weekend long. It always makes me think of doing foolish things like financing a new truck. :D

If you're going to routinely wash your truck, white conceals scrapes and scratches real well. The salespeople are given color choices but all of our delivery vehicles are white for that reason.

Hatterasguy 03-09-2009 03:05 PM

I don't want white because its going to look like a fleet or UI truck. Silver is a nice middle ground, it hides everything and looks somewhat decent.

The VW almost stranded me on the way to school today. It decided to fry the plug wire end going to number 2 spark plug and it missfired horrible as I limped it home. According to the codes cylinder 1 is missfiring as well. Fantastic another $100 down that rat hole. If I had the money AAA would be towing it to the Ford dealer and I'd be driving home in a new F150.:D I'm tired of old junk cars, now I can't deliver the form to change my degrees concentration today, so I can graduate. VW's will be the end of me.

You make it sound so dirty. :D

Kuan 03-09-2009 04:29 PM

$12,000 off sticker?

mwood 03-09-2009 05:42 PM

I looked at them too. I have a 2003 that my wife drives as she has horses and needs hauling capacity. It's a beautiful truck and if they would make a deal I might just pull the trigger, but the salesman said they were not discounting them at all. I said thanks anyway and left.

When there my fleet I'll live with white, but since I'll be the owner I won't have to drive one.:D

I'm hoping this summer, after they sit on those trucks for another 4-5 months they are in more of a negotiating mood.:D

pawoSD 03-09-2009 06:38 PM

I have a feeling that your Golf can sense your *slightly* negative attitude about it....and thus breaks down extra often to make you mad. :D ;)

Our old Caravan is a POS but we've kept an "it will never break" attitude about it....and so far it has gone for nearly 2 years with essentially NO repairs or breakdowns.....just a couple oil changes.

Cars know....you have to be nice to them. ;)

Hatterasguy 03-09-2009 06:53 PM

I don't get along with VW products.

I've pulled a VW like yours with both the G and my SDL. Give one of us a call the next time your stranded:)

iwrock 03-09-2009 07:25 PM

Can I run over the VW with the G?

I wonder what the insurance company would pay out.... :D:D:D

iwrock 03-09-2009 07:26 PM

Pretty sweet. I talked to a sales guy at the Ford Dealer about an F150. One similar to the one your talking about, and it was on sale for $19,500 before any discounts or haggling...

Hatterasguy 03-09-2009 07:29 PM

I'm kind of hoping someone steals it.:D

I want to keep it nice now that I know its worth something as a trade in. I might even change the oil so the lifter tap quites down, and I'll clear the codes so the CE light is off when the dealer looks at it.:D

Before I was just planning on turning it into a small cube with the Komatsu and burrying it, now I want to trade it in!:D

$150 if the wheels stay intact.... after that its as disposable as a razor.

Yeah that seems to be about what they are. Ford knocks $3k off list right away.

TylerH860 03-09-2009 07:33 PM

Obviously they were willing to take $750 off sticker so you wouldn't balk at their usual $500 trade in bid. I did it regularly when I sold Chevy trucks. :D No way would they get that much for the car at auction.

The problem with too many dealerships in the area is you can shop them down nearly to invoice. Wait until near the end of the month, and have them compete against eachother until they're giving it to you a invoice after holdback.

Hatterasguy 03-09-2009 09:10 PM

I'd be happy with $500 for my VW, since thats about what I have into it...so it would have been a "free" car.:D

When I get serious this summer I plan on bidding two or three dealers off eachother.

I might know someone who wouldn't mind parting yours out. Send me a PM when your finally ready to dispose of it.

Hatterasguy 03-09-2009 09:22 PM

Sure, as long as he is willing to pay what the dealer will give me, or an ebay add can get me. I bet I get just over a G note for this POS on ebay.

C280 Sport 03-09-2009 10:33 PM

Did you compare the F150 to other trucks such as the Silverado or the Dodge Ram? Do you have your heart definatly set on the F150? I ask because around here I see the New Silverado's for around $15,000. Cant beat the prices on some of these trucks. Also with the economy I am sure you can get one hell of a deal on anything now.

Hatterasguy 03-09-2009 11:18 PM

I don't like Dodge's, but I would be interested in a new Chevy or GMC. I will be pricing those out as well. But I think the new Fords are nicer.

E150GT 03-10-2009 08:11 AM

I went to a ford dealership this weekend. I have to say there was nothing on that lot that would even come close to making me want a car note. The new F-150's are nice, and the gauges look great, but I didnt see one 6 cylinder or any manual transmissions available.

Hatterasguy 03-10-2009 10:11 AM

You can't get a manual or V6 in the 09's.

But mileage wise the V6 does about 15-16ish around town, with the 6spd the V8 should do around that.

I'd never buy a manual anyway so I don't care.

Too bad. I like my friend's '07 reg cab STX v6 with a 5 speed. I'd wait until Ford comes out with the Eco-Boost V6 or whatever its called.

PaulC 03-10-2009 03:51 PM

The 4.6 V8 has been used in 2V form since 1991 and has been standard equipment in Town Cars since 1991 and Crown Vics and Grand Marquis since 1992 and has been used in Mustangs since 1995 and F-150's since 1997. It's a very durable engine. I'm sure the 3V is more of the same. Fords truck V6 engines have a much more erratic record of dependability.

pwogaman 03-10-2009 04:15 PM

Don't forget your insurance costs are going to go up. You can do a lot more damage in a F150 than you can in a VW.

No kidding....full insurance and collision on a brand new F150 is going to be way higher than for an SDL or Golf....

Hatterasguy 03-10-2009 04:44 PM

Nope its going to be cheaper, Mercedes are crazy expensive to insure. They are pricey to fix if you get hit. The Golf is a bit cheaper, but insuring me a 23 year old male is what sets the cost.

The vehical doesn't really matter, since they are cheap to fix. If I total out the truck they cut me a $15k check. Its medical, ie if I plow into a line of parked cars and send 6 people to the hospital. Than all of a sudden they are looking at $1m in bills and lawsuites.

Insurance is probably going to be about $2k a year. Taxes will suck the most, probably $400, freaken Milford.

$2k a year? Wow....It costs me like barely over $1,000 a year to insure BOTH of our MB's......registration adds another $120 to that (for both cars).

I am going to have to agree with the above posts and say a G-wagon is massively better than a land rover.

Wait for the diesel 150!

Yes but the crazy successful real estate devlopers around here drive Range Rovers and Escalades, always new never more than a year old.:D

I'd do a G though, looking like a drug lord would be fun!

Maybe next time around, I need a truck soon, not when Ford gets around to sticking a diesel in the F150...in what 2011...2012...its always a few years off.

pawoSD 03-11-2009 12:00 PM

I bet you could pick up an old F250 diesel (early 90's) for a good price....why not get one of those? :D I bet it'd last long enough to wait for a F150 new diesel.

http://image.automotive.com/f/tech/f..._ford_f250.jpg

Even I would consider one....they're just rugged and awesome. :D I like the sound of the old Ford Diesels (and Cummins Dodge trucks)

Medmech 03-11-2009 12:20 PM

Hattie, being realistic how about a used Toyota T100 that you can pay cash for?

I'm going to have about $10k-$12k cash on hand to get something. I'd get a Toyota if I can find one, I like the Tundra's.

I need an 8ft bed so that limits me to full size trucks.

I think the domestic trucks look nicer, unless I spend a few grand more to get the new body style.

The Ford's apeal to me because they have 4 doors and some nice space behind the seats to stash power tools without them getting stolen. I don't want a tool box in the bed, those just invite theft.

snp8990 03-11-2009 07:07 PM

I have a Toyota T100,a F150 and a Ram 2500 and they are all great trucks.
