no see ems in South Carolina this time of year?

We are thinking of going to Beuford in a couple of weeks to camp for spring break. Are the no see ems out this time of year?

they are not out here yet, since we are a little warmer I assume the Carolina ones are still dormant as well

The're so small you cannot see anything except maybe a speck that you assume is a piece of dust, but then the little ba$tard bites the $hit out of you!

Very painful. YOu have to wear repellant to keep them away.

I'm glad to hear they are not out yet!

Thanks to eskimo's link, I just read up on these midges. The thing about being able to fit thru screens is scary. And their painful dining habits are not much to look forward to either. So how long are these creatures out & about during the year?

Hate to break your bubble, but my brother is at my parents home on Hilton Head Island about 20 minutes from Beaufort (right now), and they are out en masse.

Good luck on the replant thing--talk about a LOL Only think I could ever get to work during fishing season, was to take massive doses of B-12, but you had to start taking it several weeks before you wanted it to work -you secrete the B 12 through your skin.

Skin So Soft diluted works better than any of the dedicated stuff for no see ums--not as good for mosquitoes though.

No, not the same. Chiggers are larval mites.

Chiggers are bad but not nearly as aggressive as no see em's.
