'Green' Power, 'Growing' the Economy

Don't know how I feel about this.

its not like they are effectively stopping the use of marijuana. the government is more successful at taxation. maybe this idea has merit.

It's already bought and sold everyday, might as well tax it.
Personally, I'd be happy with industrial hemp being legalized. Clothes, paper, and fuel for us diesel owners

******* is being bought and sold on a daily basis in the whorehouses. Yet there are some who feel that if you did that you would be taking "dirty" money or encouraging such trades. They also feel that if you allow someone to take a toke, soon, it will be 2 tokes and 3 and so on. Later on, they will graduate to Heroine and take an AK-47 and kill a bunch of kids. Illogical? Sure. But when you have beliefs, who needs logic?

Yet history shows that when you take the business out of the hands of underworld gangsters and into the hands of legitimate business and tax it crime drops.

When was the last time there was a drive by over a case of whiskey?

What's your point? That we should follow logic? Bah! Rubbish. Rhetoric is so much easier.

I don't think we need history to show us that decriminalizing something makes for less crime.

Eighty years ago Alcohol was illegal, the mob ran it.
The government saw that, legalized it and taxed it.

50 years ago there was the numbers game, the mob ran it.
The government saw that, created Lotto and taxed it.

30 years ago you could only gamble in Vegas, the mob ran it.
The government saw that, legalized it everywhere and taxed it.

So the unfortunate question is...

Did the government take over the mob ?
Did the mob take over the government ?

OR was there a friendly merger ?

If the USDA report from around 1916 is true, that is, that 1 acre of hemp produces in annual rotation as much fiber as 4.1 acres of trees, hemp could be a bonanza crop.

People in various nations in Africa cut every tree in sight to make charcoal for cooking. Hemp would make good charcoal by some research estimates.

The Mexican cartels have plantations all over the Cal. Nat. forest land. Herb is their biggest cash cow. These guys strew their debris all about, use dangerous pesticides that flow downstream, and have propane tanks in the brush that could explode in the event of a forest fire, endangering fire-fighters.

Prohibition lost a long time ago.
