So, essentially, California did a big-arsed study and determined that black cars get hotter in the sun than light cars? A lot of solar radiation comes through windows? If a car is hot inside then it takes more A/C to cool down the interior?

Where DO these people come up with the grant monies for these surveys?

I think I'll apply for one, testing to see if adding ice to a beverage will make it more drinkable on a hot day. I believe I might start some preliminary studies later this afternoon.

Hmm, let's see, I guess I could compare the "coldability" of a Tanqueray/tonic combo against an Absolut vodka Gimlet. To be scientific about it I suppose I should repeat the test several times over the course of a few days.

Wonder if I could sell the wife on the, ahem, "scientific study"?

IIRC, Univ or Wisc had a grant to study head wounds. Essentially, shoot the animal in the head and see if it dies.

Sell the wife on this one. There is a study being done to see if a daily BJ will help a guy be healthier. I tried but she laughed at me. You might have better luck.

Problem - who is going to be the control group
Furthermore, I feel you need to expand your research into areas like -
Cube vs crushed. Tall glass vs short. Ice in first vs booze
I see many years of nose-to-the-grindstone research here.

Hmmm, I can see this is going to take a while. I suppose I should go ahead and begin the search for a suitable liver donor.

Even for California this sounds too stupid to be true. You sure someone's not preparing an April Fools joke?

I cut out the rest of the link and the homepage is http://www.arb.ca.gov/homepage.htm which is the California Air Resource Board. Personally, IMO, nothing is too wacky for the Republik of Kalifornia.
