Honestly I think drifting a Mercedes is just plain stupid and classless.

I'd put it differently. I'd say you're young enough not to appreciate Mercedes heritage. Of course I'm probably old enough not to appreciate Mercedes current target market.

Thumbs down

How far back does that classy no fun heritage go?

To Hans Von Luck and his buddy in their mid 20's blasting through the German countryside and raising hell in his friends 540k? Or sliding around and dodging Russians in his SSK as he accidently drove into them.

To AMG racing in the 60's and 70's?

To Sir Stirling Moss?

Please enlighten me on Mercedes heritage.

As far as I can tell you must be refering to Mercedes pre 1920.

As you point out above, superior grand touring capabilities are a Mercedes hallmark. I hardly think the driving activities in the video qualify. You can hardly compare drifting with the driving of Stirling Moss. Mercedes are (at least they used to be) purposeful vehicles. They weren't designed for pointless activities.

Drifting isn't my bag, but it is fun. More fun than stodginess. I hope that road was closed or something though.

When I had the Jaguar XJ8, every time I reached for the TRAC OFF button to do a burnout, I thought about how much two new tires would cost.

Growing up is no fun.

Drift racing(in a sanctioned event) is pretty difficult and requires a very high level of skill and understanding the cars limits

Check out the link I posted, at least doing something like that in a GWagen takes guts.
