I nominate Sen. Richard Lugar, Indiana, as head of the Republican party

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/06/16/lugar-disagrees-mccain-iran/

Guy is sober and has his feet on the ground. Can think for himself. That puts him in front of most all the dittohead Republicans.

Right. Who's your pick? Big John Cornyn? Thick headed mediocrity. Sorta handsome, though.

And holding Obama's position has nothing to do with it? Gimme a break. Not every Rep is a dittohead just because that guy has a big mouth.

In the male, pale, and stale Republican party, that describes just about everyone.

I wouldn't pick any of them right now. No point. One's just as good as the other from the Seat Warmer view of things. All the Rep party needs now is to keep the name alive. Wait for the Dems to do what they do and screw things up. Then they can come out energized and take over. What would the Dems do then? Same thing as the Reps do now. Cool their heels and wait for the Rep screw up and take over again. It will be a cycle.

Sure the Dems are looking good now but have you ever asked how they became such a powerhouse before their fall?

Obama's position? What if Obama's position is the intelligent one, oh just maybe in this case? Other Repubs are lining up with the O man on this one: Peggy Noonan (Reagan's and other's speech writer), Pat Buchanan, and some others.

What if Mondale had beaten Reagan back in '84 and it came out a few months later that the USSR had given him valuable support? Oh, everyone would have been OK with that, no doubt.

And ANYONE who would stoop to say that Lugar "has a big mouth" has never listened to him, and I mean NEVER.

When was the last time you listened to Lugar on any topic?

I wouldn't choose him to be on my basketball team but I'm glad someone in the Repo ranks has the guts and integrity to speak some sense here and there.

ok. OK, I'm happy for you...... You have some hope. Everyone certainly needs some these days, I would rather you be thinking of hope for the people currently in charge, so many dimbulbs out there full of malice wishing them tothing but ill will......like they would have rather continued on the road into the bucket of sheite.

I'm guessing that you're mid 20s. Nothing wrong with that. I too, was once 25. I'm now approaching senility at the ripe age of 57. Oh, woe is me.

Here's the way it works. Some people, as they get older, actually get smarter. At least they have more experience to draw on and they've gotten past the 'arrogance of youth' thingy. You know how they say that youth is wasted on the young? I'm here to tell you it's true.

Lugar is not an especially handsome guy, and as a result will never be Pres-dent. I'm sure I differ with him on many things. But I feel like he's a man of honesty and integrity, not some drone mindlessly following his herd.

And he's right on the money on his opinion that we need to stay out of trying to influence the scene in Iran, especially now.

If you're waiting for perfect, yain't going to find it.

Just seems to me like when anyone toes the O line, they are good in your book. Go against the O-line and they suck. Well, it hasn't played out yet, has it? So far, it has been just guesswork. We don't know which way is the best yet, do we?

In my head im still in my 20's in many ways. You have some hope. Everyone certainly needs some these days, I would rather you be thinking of hope for the people currently in charge, so many dimbulbs out there full of malice wishing them nothing but ill will......like they would have rather continued on the road into the bucket of sheite. you mentioned that as you get onder you get smarter, I'm not that much younger than you and MY point of view is Here is how it works- the republicans dont want anything fom their "constituents" but their vote to get control--after that they take care of each other and big buisness bank rolling them to keep them in control--Thats the bottom line. Anyone thinking the Republicans represent them is as naive as they come.

We have two good centrist senators here in Indiana. One republican, Lugar and one Dem, Bayh.

Both good level headed men.

Wish I could say I respected all our congressmen.
