This Is Not How We Make Friends Abroad

Don't Call Me Bill

The student's question, according to the State Department translation, went like this: "Thank you. Mrs. Clinton, weve all heard about the Chinese contracts in this country. The interference is from the World Bank against this contract. What does Mr. Clinton think through the mouth of Mrs. Clinton and what does Mr. Mutombo think on this situation? Thank you very much."

Apparently the question got messed up in the translation. The way it was given to Sec. Clinton was fairly insulting.

AFAIK, Hillary has been hitting all the right notes since being sworn in as Sec. of State.

She would not be SoS, Senator or ever run for president if it wasn't for Bill. She redefined the word "coattails". She should be more grateful.

How so? My history is a little fuzzy here but I seem to recall that Bush Sr was a 1 term Prez. Besides the election campaign (HE LOST), what else was he involved in? If anything, Bush Jr took the lesson from the Clintons and improved on it.

Hillary is a lousy statesman....she has no tact or class, yesterday's snafu was a clear sign she needs to "give it a rest."

Who cares. As I have often said, they may rail at Obama, Bush, Hillary or anyone they wish. Just like Pavlov's dog, when the bell rings and food is in the trough, they will drool and come looking for their's. If we have nothing for them, all they have for us is nice words. Those words and $0.50 in some places gets you a soda.

What people forget is that they are not your BFF. They are more like people at a bar. You bring a roll of $100 bills and announce that drinks are on you, your popularity rises and people will take a blood oath to be by your side forever and ever. When the money ends, nobody will be there.

Dubya rode his daddy's and his grand daddy's coattails through college, then daddy got him into the ANG, then on to own a baseball team. It was daddy's friends and lawyers that got Dubya in the Whitehouse via the Supremes.

Didn't you forgot being twice elected Governor of Texas! And a second term in the White House?

Maybe it's because in some cultures/societies that's what daddies do for their progeny!

Imagine if foreign leaders and diplomats were like your high school classmates . . .

"So, Mrs. Clinton, before we discuss the bilateral disarmament proposal . . . what's Bill's take on this . . . yuk, yuk . . ."

or

"Madam Secretary, Bill just called and left a message . . . he thinks the truce stinks and wanted to know what's for dinner . . . psych!"

IN A TRAILER PARK: (Sound of frying pan banging off of head.) "Here's your Bilateral Disarmament Proposal!!!!"

ON THE WORLD STAGE: "I didn't know he was here already!?! *Yuck!* *Yuck!* But seriously, my opinion..."

As for the other quip..."Bill's entitled to his own opinion, and since My Boss is running the show, Bill should have been paying more attention. BTW, I'm not coming home during any time that you'd be aware, so eat whatever's in the fridge, not on it."

Zing!

But nope...she went "estrogen" all over the situation instead of breathing deep, counting to "10." and THEN letting fly the right remarks...

Too touchy for my tastes...
