New TDI's anyone?

My friend is interested in a new car and wants to get a new TDI, he currently drives some beat up pos dakota pickup truck he got for free from his dad. He wants the new TDI since he saw that my SDL gets pretty good mileage and he likes the idea of it. But cant afford a new E320 CDI lol.

Plus the govt just poured another 2bil into the c4c like its nothing so I am thinking we might be able to use his pos for the TDI so he can get $4500 off the price of it.

So, anyways.. what do we, the mercedes forum think of the new TDI's? He isnt going for a Jetta Sport Wagon(I would though).. but just base model Jetta TDI with I think an automatic and ipod adapter in Electric blue.

I'm going with him to the dealership later since I am the car guy and know a thing or two about the TDI's but nothing about the new TDI.(looking them up on TDIclub too)
