Talking * What do you call a Minnesota Viking w/a Superbowl Ring? *

Old joke...old punch line...

A: A thief!

Old joke...new punch line...

A: A former Packer...Brett Favre!

I always wondered what it would take to get the Vikings to a Superbowl and a possible win...wouldn't it be ironic that it takes a "Packer" to get the Vikings a set of Superbowl Rings and the title?

But, if Brett's "upcoming season" is anything like his last in New York, that dream may have to wait for another unspecified period of time...

Anyway you look at it...that bit of news today managed to knock Michael "Da' Dawg" Vick off the front page for a few hours...

I wonder if the NFL Front Office talked Brett into "unretiring" for the upteenth time just to take the negative heat off of Vick for a little while...

Anyway you look at it...the NFC Central Division just got a bit more interesting this season...tickets to the Vikes/Packs game at Lambeau on the 1st of Nov. will be a premium, if they're available at all...just looking at one site, it had the minimum price for a ticket INSIDE the stadium running at $455.00 in the End Zone...the top price was around $1,250...outside the stadium (parking lot) had the tickets in the 3-figure range...starting around $115.00 and going up from there...

OK, don't be too tough on the ViQueens......

BTW, don't read too much into Farve coming back. It is simply a Farve money grab, nothing more, nothing less. He wanted 10-12 million guaranteed, and stayed retired until they got rid of an incentive laden contract. Plus he got to miss two-a-days.....
We'll see how turf treats him!

Question:
How good is the Vike's O-Line? IIRC Philly handled it without difficulty last year.

Curious as to what happens to pro QB's the year after they should have retired? Ever heard of Y.A. Tittle ??

He's become a bit of a caricature, huh? Should have hung it up while he was on top. There once was a time that he commanded a fair measure of respect (and I'm a Bears fan!), but it's just just getting too Jerry Springer at this point.

I agree with you. He has lost all credibility. His future as a spokesperson for any product is also in jepordy.
I don't want to see him really hurt, but he should get dumped on his can, hard, a few times.

There's no doubt he brings Minn to the front of the NFC North. Until his arm injury last year, he was playing as good as Manning.

He lost credibility because it was understandable that he didn't want to play for the Packers anymore. If I were him, I wouldn'tve wanted to play for McCarthy either. However, it is not understandable to specifically want to play for a rival from the same division. That's petulance.

I can't wait for all the Packers fans to show up to the Dome for the Vikes/Packers game wearing their Green #4 jerseys.

The state was divided enough last year when he left the team. Now we'll see what happens when he is playing against them.

I don't agree that he specifically wanted to play against them. It is not like there were a bunch of other teams in the NFL that were banging down his door or would have waited until halfway through the preseason to let him join the team.

The Vikings are a great fit for him at this point in his career.

He could've stayed with the Jets. He retired then unretired to avoid the clause in the Pack/Jet trade that would've cost the Jets 2 1st round picks specifically if they traded him to a NFC North team.
The whole reason the Packers put that clause in is because Favre wanted the Vikes then, and the Packers didn't want the Jets to be a middle man for the Vikes.

I agree.

I found this to be somewhat entertaining.

The Jets cut him. They did not want to deal with the whole on/off thing. The Vikes were the only team out there that did.

Were any other teams courting Favre this offseason?

I thought he retired from the Jets.

I don't know that anyone courted him, even the Vikings, but lots of teams considered him. They just knew he didn't want to go anywhere else but Minn. I'm sure Denver would've jumped at the chance to sign him if he were interested. He wanted the Vikings last year and he wanted them this year. He didn't land in Minn., he would've stayed retired if they said no.
