Another Idiot Czar That Has To Go

Cass Sunstein: First Amendment revisionist and animal rights zealot "Specifically he thinks that, “we ought to ban hunting.”[15] He also thinks that “we could even grant animals a right to bring suit”[16] and that it is possible that “that before long, Congress will grant standing to animals to protect their own rights and interests.”[17] " and pro tax extremist: "In what sense is the money in our pockets and bank accounts fully ‘ours’? Did we earn it by our own autonomous efforts? Could we have inherited it without the assistance of probate courts? Do we save it without the support of bank regulators? Could we spend it if there were no public officials to coordinate the efforts and pool the resources of the community in which we live?... Without taxes there would be no liberty. Without taxes there would be no property. Without taxes, few of us would have any assets worth defending. [It is] a dim fiction that some people enjoy and exercise their rights without placing any burden whatsoever on the public fisc. … There is no liberty without dependency.[19]"

None of the czars are vetted by congress: why?

How about open season on PETA instead?

I can think of no reason, except that there is no law permitting such a vetting process. You think that might have something to do with it?

Apparently this czar thing is the next non-issue that will need to be exposed as empty, just like death panels and school children indoctrination.

Did you have similar objections to Bush's czars?

I have objections to anyone un-vetted by Congress that have positions of power over parts of our country, especially those whose politics are too radical to pass muster. Bush has nothing to do with it. The same, tired-ass rhetoric over & over again; "Bush". Not relevant, what is going on now is going on now; what happened in a previous administration, right or wrong has no bearing on the present. It is akin to a child saying "Johhny jumped off the bridge, why can't I?"

The country might be ready for change, but I dont think that means change influenced by non-elected radicals with political views so far out on the spectrum that most of America thinks they are crazy or evil....

I never ever heard a single word uttered from the right about anything W. did while in office any of his policies or anyone he pardoned or appointed but now its a doomsday event if the president wants to tell kids to stay in school....you cannot tell me you disagree with everything Obama does to such a degree. Ohh and previous administrations policies very much impact, a wild guess lets say the economy which the current administration will inherit.

You mean the previous CONGRESS. After all, who really writes the budget? AFAIK, the Prez submits a wish list and Congress does with it as it pleases. Most of the Congress is still intact so they are having to deal with their mess.

You are indeed confused. If you actually read and understood what this person said in context instead of getting your head all puffed up about it, you'd see there's a lot of truth in it. Without taxes and govt we'd all be living in anarchy. Just look at how things are going in Somalia where there's virtually no govt. Now I don't know how animals could "bring suit", but animals could sure use more humane treatment, especially farm animals. I also don't care for hunting, but I probably wouldn't go as far as banning it.

That seems to be your response to anarchy. More govt. Yes, obviously we need SOME govt to stop anarchy. Just not so much that everything is governed by some bureaucracy. We shouldn't need someone meddling in every facet of our lives. Yes, some govt is needed. Much like some chemotherapy is needed for a cancer patient. However, like chemo, govt should be in minimum doses.

I agree. We just probably disagree on the dosage.

The czar idea was Regans, the first "czar" was the drug czar. Its nice to see okie joe openly admitting the stupid ideas from the age of conservatism-you're coming around, pal. there is still hope for you;)

Why isn't the RNC and Republicans suing in court if they think these people are unConstitutionally holding office? Hint: they ain't. It's you right wingers calling these flunkies "czars", another round of screaming coming up.

When has context ever been an issue for the Beckbot crowd? Chairman Beck constantly chortles on about "Civilian National Security Force" being some Gestapo when any idiot can read the speech Obama made and conclude he was talking about the Peace Corps. This is just more of the same kind of tiresome anti-logic coming from the increasingly unhinged American right wing. I think they finally went over the edge with the public with the "President can't indoctrinate my child with Negro Communism" meme this week, people are finally starting to get wise to this endless crap from these increasingly irrational extremists who can't even read a Birth Certificate.

If that's your objection, you should write your represenatives in Congress and tell them to pass a new law or amend the Constitution. As things stand now, your objections have no foundations in the law.

I agree that Obama's conduct should not be measured against Bush, but that does not mean that Bush has nothing to do with this discussion. So far, you have offered no legal reason for your position, so I was searching for some other reason. Partisan politics seemed like a prime suspect.

Certainly I thought it was completely ridiculous that many conservatives were blocking Obama's address to students or pulling their kids out of school for the day when all Obama was trying to do is encourage kids to study hard and stay in school, and many students were indeed inspired by the speech. The socialist hysteria sweeping this country right now is just borderline insanity. When will the right wing be ready to return to a rational, intelligent discussion of the issues facing the country?

Obama's speech pretty much said "Ask not what your country can do for you ......" How radical. How unAmerican. No wonder the righties were so incensed.

I was amazed at the blatant racism of it all here in Houston. The white suburban school districts censored our black president from telling kids to work harder in school, while the inner city schools did not. Ignorance and prejudice, on display in a way I have not seen since the 1960's. There is an ugly, ugly racist undercurrent to a lot of this, especially the Birther crap. Why am I not surprised they went after another black guy in Obama's government with a bunch of trumped up baloney ? Nice lynch job there, Beckie. Careful of the cup of hate you are pouring their righties, you just might drown in it.
