Memoir of a former abortion addict

Inside, their mother, a striking 40-year-old literary agent with big, brown eyes, long, straight hair and a Spanish-inflected lilt that gives away her Puerto Rican roots, is describing how, from the age of 16 to 33, she could neither stop herself from conceiving, nor from terminating her pregnancies. Fifteen of them.:eek::eek:

This woman did if for fun, what hospital system and doctor allowed this is beyond my thinking.

This will give more fuel to pro-lifers for sure.

everyone has a right to be nuts

At the cost of 15 lives?

I am not a pro lifer but even I can't get myself to condone this.

JollyRoger 10-13-2009 06:59 AM

The woman is obviously mentally ill.

I agree, then she needs to be confined and treated and tubectomy performed on her, its not a game.

What 15 lives? Unless it was a 3rd trimester abortion, all you have is a blob of cells.

and yet that is the very point to debate. I would think even a staunch womans right advocate would find an issue with 15

So is the skin tag I had removed or the half of Dad's colon that he removed because of cancer.

I am not a Woman's Rights advocate but I believe that as the host, the woman is entitled to do what she likes with the growth. If and When it becomes viable, there might be some discussion. Till then, she is the host of a growth. If she wants to remove it, who are we to tell her she cannot? It is just like her hair. She wants to cut it, oh well.

Gurkha 10-13-2009 09:12 AM

I am with woman's rights, its her body, we are just donors but 15 times is not something thats just fun and game, women's rights aside.

Not the same.

That woman has some serious problems. Mother who suicided. Married a 50 yr old professor when she was 16. She needs to be pitied rather than excoriated.

Gurkha 10-13-2009 10:21 AM

Kerry,

Much as I would like to do so, just can't get myself from pitying her.
