Evaporator Core for W124
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, I just tackled the evaporator caore job for the second time in my life.
Recently bought a 95 E320 wagon and sure enough the core was leaking.
No fret though. I limped through most of the summer juicing the system up with freon once a week. Then one day I got greedy and put too much freon in. The little leak became a river. System would no longer hold charge for more than a day. So I decommissioned it in late August and waited for fairer weather. I took the core out and ordered the new one and all the vacuum modules + the dryer, switches, O rings etc. Total job was still about a grand, but its good for life now. Its a tough job and I was surprised how well I remembered the job since it was over 4 years ago when I last did it. Buttoned everything back up and charged it up + added some oil. Will have it vacuumed down and recharged correctly in the spring...but for right now, everything is cool.
Btw, while I had it torn apart, I went ahead and replaced all the tiny lights that sit behind the clusted also.
