So I just talked to a guy at Discount Tire (America's Tire). He said the Exalta A/S will perform better in rain and snow than the MXV4 and the Hydroedge better than the Exalta. He said he did not recommend the Hydroedge because it is T rated and "not suitable" for Mercedes. I told him it is for a 4 cyl C series and he backed off a bit from that claim. He said he never had any complaints on noise from any Michelin tire. He said if I didn't like it I could swap within 30 days. Hmmmmmm

I was never of fan of the Michelins that came on my E300 when I purchased it. They were the OEM equivalent's. The rode well, but traction in thre rain and winter left much to be desired.
Now that I think abou it, my car rides a littel quieter on 18" wheels with Falken tires than it did with the Michelin 16's.....

Like Mr. GM above, I have the Primacy MXV4 on the both the 124 and 210. They are a superb all around tire - extremely smooth, extremely quiet, good ride, good steering response. Michelin claims 60K mile tire life, which ain't bad. They're fine in rain, can't comment on snow... The closest I can come to a complaint is that if they are nice and warm from a highway drive, pulling off and immediately parking in chilly weather will cause them to take a set. They thump a bit for the first five miles afterwards.
Of course, if you accidently hold down the shift key when typing the name, you get MXV$, which is also correct! |

Well it turns out I have the old MXV4 XSE Plus, not the Primacy MXV4. Some people say the Primacy is an upgrade. Does anyone know if that is true?

Dunno.
I have only put ten or fifteen thou on mine and I have not noticed any noise from the tires. I will say that I am fairly picky about that too.

My dad has a set of those MXV4s on his Lexus, 17." They are very smooth and quiet but they were pretty expensive and they aren't good for someone who likes to throw his car into corners.
