Man Cave Related

http://jalopnik.com/5255078/ten-steps-to-creating-the-perfect-man-cave

Finally someone has put it into 10 easy steps.

(a really nice 4 post lift for like $2700, I thought they ran a lot more, my friend has two of the brand mentioned)

I'd rather have a Rotary 2 post asymmetrical.

The concept of a "man cave" speaks volumes of how much the male species has been shaped to relinquish household power in our society.

"I'm Still a Guy"

When you see a deer you see Bambi and I see antlers up on the wall. When you see a lake you think picnics and I see a large
mouth up under that log. You're probably thinkin' that you're gonna change me. In some ways well maybe you might. Scrub me
down, dress me up, oh but no matter what remember I'm still a guy.

When you see a priceless French painting and I see a drunk naked girl. You think that riding a wild bull sounds crazy and
I'd like to give it a whirl. Well love makes a man do some things he ain't proud of and in weak moment I might walk your sissy
dog, hold your purse at the mall but remember I'm still a guy.

I'll pour out my heart, hold your hand in the car, write a love song that makes you cry. Then turn right around knock some
jerk to the ground 'cause he copped feel as you walk by.

I can hear you now talkin' to your friends sayin', "Yeah girls he's come a long way from draggin' his knuckles and carryin'
a club and buildin' a fire in a cave." But when you say a back rub means only a back rub then you swat my hand when I try.
Well now what can I say at the end of the day,"Honey, I'm still a guy."

And I'll pour out my heart, hold your hand in the car, write a love song that makes you cry. Then turn right around knock
some jerk to the ground 'cause he copped feel as you walk by.

These days there's dudes gettin' facials, manicured, waxed and botoxed. With deep spray-on tans and creamy lotiony hands you
can't grip a tackle box.

Yeah, with all of these men linein' up to get neutered it's hip now to be feminized. I don't highlight my hair, I've still
got a pair.Yeah, honey I'm still a guy.

Oh my eyebrows ain't plucked there's a gun in my truck. Oh thank god, I'm still a guy.

Household power is worthless to me. If she wants the house, let her have it. I want my little nook that I can control.

So, you're okay with the Queen holding the castle, while you have your little hovel in the village . . . while still paying for the castle?

I don't follow. If she works (assuming at some equal level), she should have part of the control. If not, what would her earnings buy her?

If you put down 50% of the enterprise, do you ask for 10% of the profits?

I'm pretty ok with it. While I contribute 100% financially I relinquish all control to her inside the house from the first floor up. The basement, garage and outbuildings are my fifedom.

My rationale is you couldn't pay me enough to watch the 4 monsters and she can't complain when I bring home my little projects. It's actually a small price to pay!

Truer words were never spoken.......

Whether they contribute (mine does) to the money pot or not, a guy has to know which side of his bread is buttered.

oh yeah, my little 'nook' spends more money than my wife's too.

I corrected the typo. No thanks are necessary.

That is an insightful and sad comment. I have 2 “man caves” and each represents about the same proportioning of the overall possible space. The sad part is that almost no guy gets the degree of fit and finish that’s illustrated in the photo essay.

If a guy gets a little more than a couple of bare light bulbs, concrete flooring, well worn kitchen chairs to sit on, a coat for warmth, and a place to keep the spent matches and wine bottles, it amounts a happy retreat.

You're not happy with that? Gimme some beer in place of the wine and the old college-days dorm stereo system and I'm happier than a pig in $h!t!

There needs to be certain degree of unpleasantness to keep wife and children from infiltrating.

While the point is valid, sadly, that “need” is a result that has been forced upon men throughout this land.

True words..... Without a garage yet (maybe next summer) I utilize the basement. I have a computer, TV (w/PS2), 5.1 stereo, and a woodstove. Probably the reason I stalled out on the basement remodel is the lack of another place to go.....
