Besides, mass transit in Detroit never really had a chance historically. The fact that three of the largest companies in the area, if not the world, produce hundreds of thousands of cars annually, while giving steep employee discounts to buy said cars, means that rails don't have a chance.

Of course all this might very well change given recent circumstances.

Past tense. People are so concentrated on the old stuff that other parts of the world is kicking our asses on to the point it's not even funny. Actually, I think they are way more European where they don't shave there either, from what I hear. Oh, BTW, lets not forget the legs too, while we are at it.

Still, I'll pass. I'd rather the girls I sleep with be clean shaven. Pits, legs and other fun areas. If I need heat, I can always turn up the furnace.

This does not surprise me. All three states have people who work non-value-added jobs (assembly, longshoremen,harvest) that could be replaced by robots and labor-saving devices.

Ten years and the Cylons will be doing that in all three states. Since they will assemble themselves, no jobs there, either.

Evolve out to something else or die. Only our politicians pander to these people and try to artificially keep jobs there to get the votes. Rest of the world laughs at our stupidity when they have the time or when they are on break. If I ran a check cashing business at say 3% and Wal*Mart came next door to me and cashed checks for $3, should I stick fast to my model or should I move into something else where they cannot compete yet?

But will we have cylon-human sex then?

Wear clothes outside bed and turn up heat or get a heated blanket in bed. You can also get a heated mattress pad. If I wanted to sleep next to a Lassie, I have 4 dogs

I was going to post that Illinois has a LAW that Tenure must be used for laying off teachers.
Then I heard that it is law in 48 states, and that firing a tenured teacher is more difficult than firing a union auto worker.
In fact there are many tenured teachers that, like the auto workers, are paid to do nothing after they were for whatever reason removed from their position. Some because of school or program closings, sometimes basically criminal acts, but it is cheaper to pay them than pay the lawyers to truly fire them.

They specifically mentioned 7 Hawaiian teachers that they attempted to fire for poor performance. After 10 years and hundreds of thousands of dollars, 4 were let go.
