You have to see this, Dodge dealer screwup!
http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f5/new-2009-srt8-challenger-sells-29-1k-34598/
If I was in this buyers position I would be contacting my attorney now to force the issue.

So, what's a car like that supposed to sell for?
$29K seems like plenty to me. Is a car like this supposed to fetch $40K+? Quote:

That poor guy. I spent today in a simmilar situation. Yesterday I stopped at the Chevy dealer on the "motor mile" because they have a nice '06 C230 thats been well maintained, etc. I've been after it for a while, so today I stopped by in the VW, which was sparkling clean inside and out, as always. I left them my trade and took the 230 over to Rick Hill imports for a quickie check because I know I can trust the service manager there. He's a good guy.
The car checked out, and I came back to "Champion Chevrolet" with the title to my car and $6000 cash. Their 'tard sales manager refused anything I offered, including my final (more than fair) offer of my spotless, paid for, one owner, beautifully maintained VW and the $6,000 cash out the door. The car is a pretty nice one and I'd even be content if I had to offer up my max offer because the car's in such good shape and only has 35,000 miles. The saddest part? They let me walk over a $1,000 difference. I was letting them lowball me by 3,000 easy on my trade (remember, paid off and in my name) and they still wouldn't close it over a measly $1,000. Basically all dealers are *******s. |

99.9% of dealers can be five star pains in the ass. It's a rare day when you can pin one down and hold them to their word.

They entered a legal contract, time to lawyer up.
I'd spend a few grand on lawyers fees just for satisfaction.

You gotta ask yourself though. It's a dodge at a dodge dealer. They have the special tools to get places you can't, and the knowledge that can bite you in the ass 40,000 miles and several years down the road. I think any dealer manager who wanted to pick a fight with this guy could make that Challenger hurt the poor guy if he tried to "lawyer up" in the end. You can't win for losing. And apparently in this case you can't win for winning either.

Similar story about a Hyundai Genesis over the summer. Dealer forgot to put a reserve on the auction so it went for 2 or 3 grand under market value... needless to say the buyer *****ed on a bunch of forums and the dealership was swamped with phone calls from people telling them to honor the auction. They eventually caved..haha! These idiots really underestimate the power of the internet.

I'm a cave man. The internet scares me ****less with the things it can accomplish and how rapidly they things change. I like my albums, 35mm film, and phones without answering machines. But at the same time the internet just blows my mind wide open every time I'm on it.

when numbers of people phone in, it exerts great pressure on the dealer.
the people always have had and always will have a GREAT deal of power when they band together in numbers. I've seen major jerks fired or terminated when enough people banned together to go against them. one of the major problems is you can't hardly get two people to agree on anything nowadays. but if you can, powerful things can happen. |

The seller is brand new to ebay and to auctions apparently as there was NO reserve.
Bids and listings on ebay constitute a legal binding contract. A first semester law student will have his hinney. Dave Ramsey would call the dealers actions there... ''stupid tax'' A car of that age up for auction with no reserve ?? Soo easy to imagine a $2355 bid at closing !
