The Name Game
I don't anthropomorphize my vehicles. They aren't people--they are more like pets.
Of course my Ford pickup was Fred. Twenty years ago I had a Celebrity named Bob. My last car was a Mazda MX-3. For a foreign car I gave him a foreign name--Nigel. He was a boy. Cars with boy names seem to have fewer problems. It was really hard when I had to put him down; I had become attached. Now I have a 99 C230 Kompressor I've had this MB for almost two years, and I have resisted giving him/her a name. But my fiance says this one is definitely a girl. I've been referring to him/her as der Kaiser...and maybe that's why I've had problems. She has an identity crisis? I guess now her name is Frau Blücher. Maybe if she was new, she would be a Fraulein, ja? Do you other people name your cars? |
