The great Chicago w123 search

I've started looking for number 2. My north carolina raised (whats rust?) has treated me well, but if something came along with low miles, not yellow and no rust for a good price...

http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/cto/1723704151.html

P.S dear seller, 1. don't type it caps 2. Make grammatical sense 3. Don't say things like 'RUNS GOOD VERY STRONG ENGINE AND TRANS NEED WORK' (it's close by, so I'll still go check it out) I have seen similar things like 'just a tiny bit of rust' and the roof has a basketball size divot. I was also shocked to see a lot of people trying to get $5,000 for their 'super great for bio diesel' vehicle with 250,000.

And then part of me says, stay with my first love. Paint. Rebuilt engine. Conversion to manual....

Are there w123 SDL's? I have only seen later models. I don't know much, but the body style on this one looks earlier.

That is an SD, not an SDL. 116 chassis.

That's why I couldn't find any earlier sdl's then ha ha. I wonder who told him that's what it was. That car had 230,000 on it. I found one in Inverness http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cto/1722458607.html that I'll go and look at. Although $5,000 doesn't sound like a find with what I have been reading on here. Maybe it is though.

That one runs well, new starter/belts. Real nice looking interior, as little rust as I could find around here. Probably get him down to $4500 My 81 hasn't let me down yet, although if I leave it outside in 10 degree weather, starting it up is a bit scary. (new battery was needed, might help next year.) It has some leaks, oil consumption is a bit more than wanted. Lots of little things, bad interior, broken window switchs, A/c compressor toasted. Put new suspension, calipers, front end in on it. It's never left me stranded. I'm debating whether to drive this until it can't drive, or trade her in. Monetary savings is numero uno priority. Any words of wisdom?

If "monetary savings is numero uno" I'd say you'd probably be better off just keeping the car you have. Though the Chicago car does sound pretty nice, it most definitely needs things. If you've got the kinks worked out of yours (forget a/c, just get the windows to go up and down); drive it 'til it dies.

Not my car, but you could always do the rest of us Chicagoan's a favor and take this one off the market. I remember seeing it last year when I was looking for projects. I wonder why it hasn't sold yet.

This one might be worth inquiring about if you don't mind the NA engine:
