The person yelling 'brake', 'brake', is somewhat nautically challenged.

Yeah, they hit once in awhile. I remember one time I was over on Port Jeff sleeping on a boat not to far away from the terminal and the last ferry of the night must of nailed the dock pretty good. Heard a load boom and the next morning it was crawing with what I assumed were insurance guys. Luckly no real damage just a love tap.

I was working for Cross Sound Ferry, based out of New London CT when they had a few accidents. In one, a truck they neglected to chock just rolled off the back of the boat. It was an older Mack/Renault so it had the Euro brake system where the parking brake is air engaged instead of the US standard air released spring engaged. As the air pressure bled out, the brakes released.
They also had a boat there that had a bizarre constant speed variable-pitch/reversible prop system, with a flaky control system. Every now and then, one or both props would just do what they wanted. Once, they didn't disengage but the engines were idled down so the boat just coasted in and bumped a little harder than normal. Another time the props both reversed after docking, the first couple cars drove off then the boat just pulled away from the dock.
Then there was the time that one of the boats took the last 15' off the dock at Thames Shipyard- The captain tried to just pivot the boat around the end rather than use the bow thruster to counter the current. Nice mess, there was a security checkpoint out there I was supposed to check off at every hour- Not anymore.
