Depends on which opinion you want to buy. A woman gave her kids a "rock party" because God said to do so. 2 professional opinions said she was sane (prosecutor's), 2 said she was insane (defense's). What do you want to be?

A friend of mine who is 84 had a knee replaced last year. She was up and walking in just over 2 weeks and hasnt looked back since.

Phil there are limits to the doing twice as much and healing faster. I have pushed ashard as my leg would let me. There is a point to which the knee will rebel so to speak. yes she will be able to improve her ability to heal and return to a normal active life however it will take months no matter how hard she works. My PT has told me to do what I can tolerate but when the knee megins to swell and hurt listen to it and slow down. Please feel free to pm me and I will provide my cell number and we can talk. I highly recommend the procedure but there are limitations. My Ortho surgeon told me prior to my decision that the new replacement knees are lasting 20 to 25 years depending on life style.

Hmmmm, I just noted you are in colombus OH.

My daughter the pediatrician is there and has a good friend who I met with and discussed my hip replacement with. I believe he lives in the Upper ARlington area....any chance this is the same fellow?

My mother had both knees done in January. She followed the PT as long as I was there to force her to do so. Once I went back to Va she of course stopped. She is now worse off than before!
I just had to put her in a rehab facility so that they could force her to move. She hates exercise, weighs around 280 pounds and will not do what she is supposed to do. I told her this would happen, my sister in law who is a doctor told her and my wife who is an RN who worked on a rehab floor told her this would happen...

I told her she wasted the money, the time of the surgery, the nurse's time, the time the PT spent with her, etc. She wants to be better, but she wil lnot put in any effort.

As long as the PT regimen is followed you will be OK.

Pay extremely close attention to your PT tech. They know how best to have you back to 100% the quickest most positive way.

Far far too many avoid PT with the idea 'I can do it myself'. Very bad idea.

I met with this fellow yesterday to discuss my knee. He is going to do a Partial replacement Feb. 25th in Colombus.

I am pumped!

The only downside will be that the grand children wont be able to sit on that knee & tell grand-dad stories for a while !!

I asked how long til I could drive my stick car. He was a little evasive with the answer.

Later at my daughters house he called and they were discussing me and she told him I would be racing with it as soon as possible. I did not hear his answer but they both had a good laugh after it.

She later said he said I would have to wait a little extra before racing.

Back in 93, I had a minor reconstruction, after 2 days they took the crutches away & told me to walk normally. You will be back in the drivers seat in a few weeks unless you have a very heavy clutch.

Are any of us? I have a marginal left knee with age that will no longer bear me carrying extra weight. So it is fine if I do not lift and carry anything over ten to fifteen pounds. Most the time I remember not to. Old injuries from youth. I have to wonder what ten percent more deterioration would cause. I never want to bang that knee again.

That's bout where i am with my left knee. Stairs are a problem. exercising is a problem. swimming even is becomming problematic with it. so i am 62 with good genetic prospects of living into my 90s and if I can get a partial replacement done it seems timely.
