i know there's enough mechanical minds in this forum to answer my question...

on a fairly new riding mower, what is the purpose of the wires coming from the bottom of the sediment bowl underneath the carb? the older riding mowers' bowls do not have that. they just have a bowl.

does it somehow shut off fuel flow? I have a problem with fuel leaking out but not from the fuel tank. I think the fuel is leaking through the engine because the needle valve is staying open.
