I wonder how they're going to overcome settlement? thats the beauty of asphalt over concrete, asphalt is elastic. we're all driven on concrete roads, they are bumpy because of the cracks when they settle. I wonder what its going to be like driving on a glass road with none of the tiles lining up?
Its a neat idea, but I don't see it ever working. and the idea of garbage for the road base would seem to cause even more settlement issues, since landfills are constantly decomposing thus making them even more unstable compared to compacted soil.

I’m not sure how their grant/funding/contract works, but I’d sure be interested in a private funding deal in exchange for a prototype solar runway.
How cool would it be, to be able to provide approach information written right on the runway surface ?!? So long to the old VASI system ! And that’s just for starters.
