Trash Inc.
A seperate thread to the other I posted.
I just watched this, not as indepth as I'd hoped but some interesting things. I would recommend this if you are at all interested in the environment. We recycle only 22 % of the plastic bottles we use. A company they interviewed that converts them to polyester for various products, imports much of their supply. There are huge floating waste clouds in the oceans, one estimated to be larger than the contenental US. So much as it washes ashore, eventually, many beaches are becoming plastic sand. OK I am anal about recycling, I even disassemble things to seperate the materials. I do sell some to the local recycling centers (Dang 20 years ago I wanted to start a company doing it). We often do not put out garbage for the weekly pickup, always recyclables, yes there are just the 2 of us.

I do my best to get my family to recycle. I go through the trash sometimes to pull out cans and plastic stuff. If I lived on my own I would even compost to even lessen my trash.

I reuse my water bottles at least half a dozen times.

They say your not supposed too.
But I do too, first I don't like most bottled waters, then since I will sometimes go through a half dozen a day we'd go broke.

Ya know, I used to think that also. Now however, after contracting an urinary tract infection from re-using my old drinking water bottles, I now use my bottles at a maximum for one day before taking them home and sterilizing them (which you are NOT supposed to do using hot water). I drink a LOT of filtered water daily, without exaggerating 3-4 gallons daily (I work outside in the Az. heat) and I have a bad habit of leaving my bottles sitting on my office desk overnight. I usually make sure they are drained but human nature being what it is I sometimes forgot to empty them completely. No more! 72 hours of not being able to get 5 foot from a bathroom and still not being able to empty your bladder is a damned fine lesson!
