Anybody on here know anything about Volvo automatic climate control?

1995 Volvo 850 automatic climate control system?

I'm not used to dealing with "servos". Anyway, I am going in after a local shop butchered a dashboard changing out the evaporator. Prior to pulling the dash, changing the selector (defrost, heat, center vents, etc...) did not do anything in regards to where the air blew out of. It only blows out of the center dash vents. I have completed the change out of the dash and nothing has changed in that regard. I am getting a vent actuator error when I read the codes. My question is if one of the servos is bad, throwing a code, does it go into the "default" mode of just blowing out of the center vents? Could this be a sign that the climate control unit is bad (the pushbutton unit for lack of a better term)?

I've signed up on the volvoforums board but have not gotten an answer so I am asking the question on this board.

I've never had to solve Volvo climate control issues but I have on lots of others. Usually the default is to defrost. If it is to face its the first one I have seen and would not make much sense. I would bet the other shop messed up the servo or the blend door and the climate control module cant actuate it and is throwing the code in protest. Is the servo vacuum or electric!

They are all electric with position feedback. It is way more complicated than it needs to be in my opinion.

I would hook a meter to that motor and see if the control module tries to move it. If so I would say its the servo. How proud is volvo of that servo I wonder?
