Are you going for the Xoom because of time waiting for the iPad2? if so it's worth the wait trust me. And I know that you can order them at Verizon stores with much faster turn around.

One interesting observation of the Galaxy Tab in a business environment . . . when you bring it to a meeting, you won't be wasting the first few minutes while other meeting attendees come over to play with it like they do with an iPad. ;)

Yes, because not many people want the verizon 3G network! The apple store a friend of mine works at has a glut of Verizon 3G iPads. But none of the others.

Its cool, I cannot stand windows/android products... After playing with a Windoze box for 5 minutes, I wanted to smash it.

Have Kevin hack it and turn it into a phone, or whatever.:D

I remember that too :D

We already discussed that but it looks like the Xoom has VOIP ability right out of the box.

I played with my friend's ipad, and within 5 min I bounced it off the floor it made me so mad... and I"m not one that gets mad like that easily. I find that thing beyond frustrating... Much like the iphone. It's sooooooo limited as to what you actually can do with it. I'd just buy a netbook.... At least you can load real software into it.
Oh, net boos have a real keyboard in them as well... so you dont' need to use most of the screen to type on while you're doing something. They have dual cored processers in these netbooks as well, and a 8-10 hour battery life.
Friend of mine bought one, added another gig of ram, and put in a SSD HD, and that thing is blazing fast. When you hit the shutdown button, it shuts down so fast it bluescreens.... And that's running windows 7.

I thought about the netbook approach but I already have a full sized laptop. Any real software will be loaded onto that with the Xoom being used for calendar updates and keeping notes/calls organized. The Xoom is great because it's highly mobile and I can get it up in running in a few seconds rather then a few minutes.

I have a dual core Atom netbook I got 3 months ago that I use for school (primary because I need 10+ hours of battery life) and while it is fast enough, it is not nearly as snappy as a tablet like the Ipad. Sorry I dont know what you're smoking ( I also upped the RAM to 2GB). Netbooks are very limited in terms of graphics processing (anything involving video...720P will be a bit choppy for example).. the ones with faster graphics chips cut down battery life by half. I can see the appeal of the Ipad but I find I type probably 2x as fast on my netbook with real keyboard.

Tablets, particularly the iPad, weren't designed to replace a computer, anymore than an iPod was designed to replace a home stereo or video system.

The solid state hard drive was a major part of the upgrade making it that fast. The ram itself didn't do that much of a speed increase...

Unfortunately a SSHD will have little to no effect on processing video/graphics. Sure for what it is, my little netbook is pretty quick, but with an Ipad, you turn it off and it goes black instantly. Turn it on and it comes back on instantly.

I'd probably buy one if I had the inclination, but I dont really see the point of tablets.

Yes, Graphics are the function of the GPU in the computer. If the GPU or the screen can't keep up, there's nothing you can do about that. My friends netbook was only used for word processing and testing networks. He showed me that with windows 7, when he hit the shutdown button, the computer would give the blue screen of death.
The closest thing he was possibly doing that would be graphics was looking at pics.
