Car and Driver is reporting that the Element has ceased production this very month. Slow sales killed it and there are no plans for a replacement.
So this means the Element prices will likely go up for a few months as people scramble to get one if they ever wanted one. Then new ones will likely sit around and have rebates offered on them to just move them off the lots. Just something to think about. |
Thanks to all for the replies! There are some thought I hadn't considered.
Maybe the stoppage of Element production will allow me to pick up a good buy if that's the route I choose. I find myself preferring the Outback for it's looks and the good reports on its AWD prowess. Creature comforts are nice too. This is offset by the Honda reliability, utility and local dealer support. I'll keep pondering and shopping and maybe in a few months I'll make up my mind. Thanks again and feel free to keep commenting! |
The element has the aerodynamics of a brick wall. Personally I would go for a any station wagon over that. I wish honda still sold an accord wagon. That accord crosstour is a sick joke.

Go outback, the Element is a fad. I had a short ride in a co-workers 3.0 H-6, it did seem much smoother and quieter than my 2.5L H-4
