Being a US President is fairly risky. 44 presidents. 4 killed (Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, Kennedy). near fatal attempts on 6 (Jackson, T Roosevelt, F. Roosevelt, Truman, Ford, Reagan).

Yes, you gotta be crazy to want that job.

Danger as determined by percentage of injuries or fatalities?

Been there and done quite a bit of it.

The actual dangers involved with it are directly proportional to the stupidity of the pilot.

You wont hear about bush pilots dieing because it's a dangerous job. You will hear about them dieing however, because they did something they shouldnt have and should have known better.

Good question.

There does have to be some scale to base it against.

Otherwise, just driving to work is quite a "dangerous job".

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Yup, POTUS is the MOST dangerous job in the U.S.A.! Murder rate of 9%! Assassination attempts 23%. Died on the job 16%.

Just a little ahead of driving to work.

Probably second to being a Russian Tsar or a Caesar though.

We lost 9% (4/44) of US presidents with 2 more under suspicion of being assassinations. But if you stretch that out on an annual basis, it is pretty safe.

Believe it or not famer is one of the highest. Most of them get no training when they buy a new piece of machiney. They might get a manual or a bit of instructions on how to operate it but for the most part they're supposed to know how to run it before they buy it.

Even worse if livestock is involved. Add a variety of chemicals to the mix and anything can and often will happen. Still one of the highest suicide rates relative to profession.

Many will take issue with that, particularly because the research/statistics aren't very reliable. The best data seems to indicate that male caucasian physicians have the lead, however on the bright side, those that don't commit suicide generally live longer healthier lives than the rest of the population.

However, there's no doubt about which major city has the highest suicide rate, that's Las Vegas. NYC has just about the lowest for a major city.
