Can you describe it more ?

Oh right.

If I get too simple please ignore me!

Ruby is a programming language.

You need certain other programs to enable this language to work on your computer. From my unfortunate time working in IT (never again!) the people I worked with called this an environment.

Have you had a look at this and installed what you want?

This is the set of instructions I have been trying to use.

http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/2008/03/how-to-download-and-install-plugins.html

The Ruby scripts are in the plug in folders.....named correctly , show different sizes.... some come zipped , some not...
but in looking at my buttons ... I can not find any that indicate my Ruby downloads have reached Sketchup...
and they do not show in the Ruby console... in Sketchup 8
Thanks,Greg

This is one of the great problems with using a graphical user interface (GUI). You click on a button and something is meant to happen... errors are meant to be written somewhere... on a command line you type in a command and you should get a load of messages if it doesn't work...

Try starting Sketchup from the command line? You might get some information that helps...

I can't say for sure what is happening but it sounds like Sketchup can't find the ruby environment (for want of a better word!). It could be a simple PATH issue...

The best invention ever was the GUI.... I remember that blue screen in the old days blinking at me.....and not having a command line to deal with is one of the present day joys of life..
LOL
I will keep trying ....

True but it takes soooooo long to find the errors these days - in the old days you'd get an error printed out on the screen 9 times out of 10.
