Has anyone been to Portugal?!
Our family will be traveling to Europe next year. We will be visiting family in few countries in central-Europe. Tail end of the trip is wide open so we were thinking about going someplace we haven't been and this time we think it will be Spain and Portugal. We've been briefly to Barcelona in Spain but that was it - only 1 day (before embarking on a cruise few years back).
I've heard from my uncle who traveled repeatedly to Portugal that it's beautiful, friendly, affordable and has really good seafood - what else one needs?!  Anyway, if you've been there or have a story about it we'd like to hear it. Thx, James

Was there last year at precisely this time. You may want to ferry over to Casablanca, Morrocco while there, if time permits.
The salespeople are very charming, the trick is to come out of a shop WITHOUT buying anything. Food is excellant-you will not be disapointed. Although prices are a bit high in the 'Tourist Areas'. If you can get off the beaten path, and find out where the locals eat ,the food is even tastier in most cases, as well as being affordable. Protect your valubles! I cannot stress this enough, as I lost my laptop while it was right beside me, while I was sitting outside waiting for my wife to finish shopping.

I was there about 20 years ago. Put Cascais on your list of stops. You might not come home. Portugal's hurting right now. I've heard that tourism is way down along with prices.

My wife and I have been to Portugal twice. Beautiful country - nice people.
You'll love the fruit, especially the pear-shaped oranges - sweetest I've ever tasted.

I've been to most all the Western European countries, but I've missed Portugal. I've been to Barcelana three different times, but two of these trips buried me downtown and these trips weren't that pleasant.
I just saw a Red Bull Air Race that was filmed on a river in one of the beautiful cities on one of the rivers. It looked like a beatiful place. I wouldn't mind going there. It looks as if my wife, her twin sister and myself are going to Germany next year for an Army reunion. I will definitely make it down the Rhine and also into the Bavarian Alps while there. Probably my favorite places in Europe are the Rhine, North of Frankfurt, the Bavarian Alps and the Swiss Alps. In the Summer season, I love to go to St. Moritz. It's really beautiful country and somewhat affordable outside the ski season. Have a nice trip.

Portugal is not particularly known for being dangerous. You'll love the seafood too, and the wine, and the purty girls. It's OK to look if you're careful.
