Thoughts and speculation
Is there any possibility that the DaimlerChrysler group will dissolve and the Daimler branch will be free of Chrysler?
Or is Chrysler's financial and product situation simply so bad that no prospective buyer would be interested in the brand? I'd like to hear some thoughts and speculation on the matter. -Sam |

I would venture to speculate that if things at Chrysler got bad enough that they would be spun off, just as GM has spun off several of there companies.

How bad do you think it has to get?

Chrysler gives Daimler a middleclass entre' into the tremendous American market. If they can maintain barely marginal profitability while occasionally providing stylistic and engineering innovation through Chrysler, it's a plus for their Mercedes brand--the marker which provides them worldwide prestige and profitability.
