And I think they are lockout hubs, and he didn't know about the head or injectors. Kid knows his way around the engine bay, but he hasn't had it long.

I never owned one, but a friend had an '86 in a 3500 GMC and it never started well from brand new. If you saw a little frost on the hood in the morning, you were lucky to get it started.

My '83 300D starts effortlessly in the cold. I left it outside several weeks ago to test it in a 9* morning. One glow cycle and I don't even touch the throttle- and that's with a 7 year old battery.

Lt1's never came in suburbans only Corvettes, Camaros and Firebirds. You must be thinking of the vortec line of engines.

6.2s are very good engines but did have some web problems..... GM did fix this in the later years with a better built block but the earlier ones did get better mpg.... 22-23mpg from a 700R4 suburban wasn't unheard of.

For more power you can retro fit a turbo kit from the later 6.5's or get the much better banks performance turbo kit..... (can normally be found on ebay if you are patient for around 700 bones)

Detroit Diesel was owned by GM for years aswell as a slew of other companies..... they did create around 600,000 jobs in their hay day.
Detroit Diesel actually know is owned by MB and creates lower cost alternative engines for Freightliner but many truckers like the 60 series engines to the MB engines for the long haul.

If I ever have a little extra $$$ lying around I will get one. i was looking for one for a DD because at 6'7 and 280lbs I need something big, but I found my SDL at the same time for a price I couldn't pass up.

Really if you aren't hauling a humungous 5th wheel and looking for a family rig that do lite 4x4 duty and a great camp mobile you can't go wrong with one of these.

True but don't forget the fun LT1 equipped '94 up Caprices, Roadmasters [sedans and wagons] and the biggest Cadillac, the Fleetwwood Brougham.

I had a '94 Caprice wagon and it was a blast. My aunt has a '95 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham [Corevtte in a Tuxedo] that will be mine but I'm patient enough to wait and have her around a while.

The LT1 in the caprices differed from the vette motor in that it had iron heads. It made a load of power though and since the wagons are 400# heaver in the back than the front with the iron heads it only would have made it more imbalanced with aluminum heads....and more expensive to build.

Can you lay down in the back of a burb? That's my main concern since I am 6'7" as well. It can be done in the w124 wagon but its very tight.

Our 97 has a third row bench that doesn't fold flat. It's but a couple of latches to release it and set it aside for a flat stretch from the front row to the hatch.

I could have gotten technical but the fact was the LT1, as it was called, was in fact available in other vehicles than mentioned.

No wonder you have a high post count, you correct everyone and comment on anything.

Must be trying to compensate for something.............

Yikes! You are onto me!

I was not aware of correcting anybody, just adding a comment.

My dad had one of those, and it was purple. Ugly car, but it was fast. Wife #3 didn't like it so he sold it.

up until 2007 you can put 4x8 sheets of plywood, sheetrock etc in the back of a burb laying flat on the floor.

Do you mean the length of the truck or on a bench seat. Length of the truck is yes easily. I can do that in my land cruiser. And yes I forgot about the caprices and road masters and caddys

Ya length wise..

When I travel somewhere alone I like to pull over and lay down when I'm tired. Beats stopping at a motel every night.

It's cheaper anyway. I've done this a few times in my old Lincoln and in my 240D the night I broke my apartment key off in the deadbolt on the Fourth of July. I'm 5' 2", so I can do that

Ugh, I'm trying to decide if I want this truck. Part of me really wants it, but part of me doesn't want to take the risk and I'm still not 100% if I want a truck or not. I think I'm gonna look at this 300D before I make a decision:

Mercedes 300 turbo diesel 1987
