That statement begs the question, "Does a Bear chit in the Woods"?

The right of way extends into many people's yards. I guess if you are on the right of way they can nab you anytime they want.

I remember stories from the past of abusing vagrancy laws.

Public display of alcohol has been an issue as long as I can remember. Way back when we had wraps for beer cans to make them look like coke cans. As long as the can was empty it was not acceptable as evidence.

Civil rights issues are a little scary if you try to balance them against the trend of "needs for national security".

If MLK were active today would he be labeled a terrorist?
You are using a situation that happened on private property ? How does apply!

When I heard of this I had a hostile reaction so I posted it to get some reactions and possibly insights from other people. It is interesting that other people also react with hostility but direct it at me. I guess it is the "kill the messenger" thing.

I am at least glad that people are not entirely numb to this ... yet.

I am also glad that I don't have to share elbow space with a lot of other people. I'll never live with the property value nazis.

Law enforcement imposing will on others.

It's not about illegal/legal, right/wrong, good/evil, etc. It's just about what someone likes/dislikes and about arbitrarily imposing some people's will on other people.

It appears that the role of law enforcement has changed dramatically in the last thirty or forty or so years. Someone said something in this thread about "serve and protect" - no more.

As for documentation, I don't have a clue how to look up criminal court records. Not really what I want to be doing with my time anyway.

I am pretty good with the real estate end of the courthouse but avoid the criminal end.

The police officer refused to shake the lawyer's hand and turned and walked away without saying a word.

It appeared that this particular police officer wasn't able to deal well with losing the case.....
Maybe the defense attorney grabbed the last donut...

Possibly, but this particular defense attorney has quite the reputation for winning cases and the defendant certainly had every right to hire him. Traffic citations can run up insurance costs which means it is in the best interest of the driver to fight them. And, for every accused that has the money to hire a top shelf defense lawyer, there are a hundred people that either don't have the money or won't do it which means the police still win major $$$$$ on the traffic citations they write for city government.

There are traffic courts in the United States that are purported to bring in $10,000 per hour in traffic fines.

I didn't realize that this touched on so many current hotkey issues. Kinda 'splains the reactionary posts.

The end of due process, expatriot act, etc. Police State, here we come. Correction? Here we are?

I guess the corporate-run, taxpayer-funded prisons need all of the customers they can get.
