Met a nice Mercedes owner today

I was leaving my girlfriends house an hour ago after I did some work in her courtyard. I saw an older lady driving a '98 E300 TurboDiesel and I yelled out to her "nice car!" she opened her window and said thank you. She said she has owned Mercedes diesels since the 60's and would get a new one every body style change. I believe she has only had the equivalent of an E-Class diesel. But I ran into her again at the grocery store down the street and she said the dealership keeps sending her letters for her to come in and buy a new diesel.

She said her fuel mileage isn't that great. I mentioned to her that her car is capable of at least high 30's to maybe 40 if you drive on the high way. She said she only drives to and from the grocery store and just short trips. (I'd hate to see the glow plugs). Next time I see her I'll see if she'd like to have tea with me and my girlfriend so we can become friends.

I don't think the owner is selling. I think she's holding onto it for as long as she is alive.

This weekend on the way to Dallas I was in the middle lane of IH35 and I noticed a w210 E class coming up in the passing lane just cruising slightly faster than I. As he came up on me I looked over and waved and cruised on by. As soon as he passed I realized it was diesel. My first Mercedes wave. I have gotten a thumbs up from a TDI driver though

I'm not that lucky . If it did turn into another "cabriolet" event I'd totally never sell it.
